Applications of HPMC Joint Filler
December 27th 2024As a HPMC supplier, I will tell you the role of HPMC playing in putty powder. What is the Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose?
Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose(HPMC), also known as hydroxypropyl cellulose and cellulose hydroxypropyl methyl ether. And HPMC is made of high-purity cotton cellulose specially etherified under alkaline conditions.
The Properties of HPMC in Construction Materials:
*Better deformability
*Higher flexural strength and flexibility
*Higher durability and freeze thaw resistance
*Improved wetting of the substrate
*Increased adhesion to a variety of substrates
*Increased impact and abrasion resistance
The Functions of HPMC in Putty Power:
HPMC does not participate in any chemical reaction, only plays a supporting role. The putty powder is added with water, and the wall is chemically reacted. Because of the substances, the putty powder on the wall is removed from the wall and ground into powder. Then it will not work, because a new substance (calcium carbonate) has been formed. The main components of gray calcium powder are: a mixture of Ca(OH)2, CaO and a small amount of CaCO3. The role of gray calcium in water and air CO2 Calcium carbon. HPMC, while HPMC only retains water and assists the better reaction of gray calcium. It does not participate in any chemical reaction.
In putty powder, HPMC plays three roles: thickening, water retention and construction. It does not participate in any reaction.
Thickening
HPMC acts as a thickener, suspending and keeping the solution homogeneous and not allowing it to sag.
Water Retention
HPMC causes the putty powder to dry slowly and assists the reaction of calcium ash in the presence of water.
Construction
HPMC has a lubricating effect and allows the putty powder to have good construction properties.
The Applications of HPMC in Other Construction Materials, it includes but is not limited to the following fields:
*Tile grout, Joints and Crack Fillers
*Tile Adhesive
*Self-leveling Compound
*Gypsum Manual Plaster
*Detergent
*Exterior Insulation and Finish System(EIFS)
*Water-borne paint
*Skim Coat Manual Plaster
