HPMC for cement-based building materials mortar

1 water retention

Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose HPMC for construction avoids moisture infiltration into the wall. The proper amount of water stays in the mortar, so that the cement has a longer time for hydration. The water retention is proportional to the viscosity of the cellulose ether solution in the mortar. The higher the viscosity, the better the water retention. Once the water molecules are raised, the water retention decreases. Since for the same amount of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose solution for construction, an increase in the amount of water means a decrease in viscosity. An increase in water retention results in an increase in the curing time of the mortar being applied.

2 Improve construction

The application of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose HPMC can improve mortar construction.

3 lubrication ability

All air entraining agents have a wetting agent that helps the fines in the mortar to disperse when mixed with water because of its reduced surface tension.

4 anti-sagging

Good anti-sagging mortar means there is no danger of sag or downward flow when working in thick layers. The sag resistance can be improved by the construction of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose. In particular, the newly developed hydroxypropyl methylcellulose for construction provides better sag resistance of the mortar.

5 bubble content

High bubble content results in better mortar yield and workability, reducing crack formation. It also reduces the intensity value and shows “liquefaction”. The bubble content usually depends on the agitation time. Products are widely used to improve the performance of hydraulic building materials such as cement and gypsum. In cement-based mortars, it improves water retention, extends correction time and open time, and reduces sagging.
